Today the merit-making hall is fully occupied by the merit-makers both young and old and has been since early morning. All villagers were enthusiastic after the year-long wait to welcome this auspicious occasion. They were busy arranging a variety of food and sweets to offer to Buddhist monks and novices. Before the monks and novices came to preside over the ceremony, food and all offering items had to be ready to be presented to them.
While waiting for the auspicious time to take place, people took the time to enjoy talking and shouting to greet one another. In fact, this was a time for the entire villager to meet each other. Usually, they were busy working on their own farms only. Everybody was familiar with this type of commotion, and they seemed to enjoy it quite a lot.
